Why do you want to play saxophone? Are you a beginner and want to learn it for school? Looking for a new hobby? Want to get into the state band? Or maybe you're looking for something more serious? Whatever your goal may be, I am here to help :)

I have a very detailed curriculum that my students go through. I pick studies that will help push you to being a better player. These include both jazz and classical saxophone. I also like having my students pick a piece they want to work on at the same time!

I am a beginner saxophone player and Stephen's lesson has been really good for me. He is able to pace his lessons based on my needs and I really like how he assigns practice material to work on before our next lesson. We always start off each lesson with reviewing the practice material and he always gives me detailed feedback and is really patient even if I was not able to master the practice material. He also lets me bring songs I want to learn and guides me through it. I look forward to our lessons every week. I would recommend Stephen to anyone who is looking to get better at playing saxophone.

Hello!

I am a private music instructor specializing in woodwind instruments looking to take on clarinet, flute and saxophone students in the Orange County area!

My lessons consist of a well balanced coverage of exercises (scales, note patterns, etudes, duets, major repertoire, etc) geared towards building a solid foundation in playing technique. This allows each student to be accurate and expressive with a sense of ease in their playing! Students of the studio are also thrown into the world of music! They are strongly encouraged to attend concerts, listen to music regularly, and attend masterclasses. The goal is not just to learn an instrument, but to also develop a life-long love and appreciation for music!

I am very proud to say that my students soar through their band and orchestra programs in school and obtain a sound quality/sense of musicality way beyond their grade level! The majority of my students excel past their school music programs! They join youth/honor bands ...

About Carter

I believe that everyone has the ability to enjoy and be expressive on an instrument. It is poor instruction and a lack of passion in music education that allows students to become frustrated and bored, ultimately pushing them to quit their instruments. My goal as a music educator is not only to t

After more than fifty years of not touching a clarinet since high school band, one pursuit in retirement was to perform better than my mediocre past. My instruction from Carter has given me tools to achieve my goals with specific insights as to posture, embouchure position, tongue/oral cavity form, fingering, interpretation and more. I always received functional answers to my many questions.

I've been learning for about 6 weeks now and could not ask for more. Excellent teacher helping me reach the goals I have as fast I can yet always with excellence and integrity to the pride of the instrument. Awesome.

I began playing saxophone in 2003. I found playing music to be a magical and fulfilling experience. I graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Music in 1993.
Since I love making music so much, I wanted to share with others the joy of music, and began teaching in 2003. Music is a fun form of self-expression and can improve focus and self-confidence. I enjoy teaching students of all levels and ages.
As a clarinetist, it made perfect sense to me to pick up the saxophone. It is a great instrument to play. I really enjoy it.

Heather is a great teacher; she is able to gauge ability and keeps the lessons varied and interesting, always pushing you just at the edge, beyond what you thought you were capable of. Friendly, amiable, and laidback in style, she makes learning in a comfortable atmosphere fun. You can tell she has a real passion for music and teaching, and results after just a few lessons proves she knows what she is doing.

I am a beginning singer, my only prior experience was singing with the congregation in church, not the choir.
Quinn
She's really nice, and makes warm-ups before starting the lesson for your voice range. The variety of songs you can sing is pretty big, you want to sing in Italian? There's plenty! Want to sing in Latin? I'm pretty sure there's a few! There are songs from various musicals, too. All in all, she's a pretty great teacher.

I have been playing the saxophone since I was 9 years old, and was tutoring younger band students since 10 years old. Once I started college, about 5 years ago, I started teaching saxophone lessons professionally.

Lessons structures vary depending on the student's playing level. Prior to the first lesson, I work with all students to understand their goal(s) so we can structure the lesson to achieve these goals.
With complete beginners, after the first lesson you can expect to learn how to put the instrument together and even play a short song. In our later lessons we talk about instrument basics such as breath control, embouchure, hand position, tuning, and more. With my intermediate students we focus the first half of the lesson on basics/technique/scales while the second half we work on the music that we have selected. I include some basic music theory in all lessons.

For my lessons, I use a technique book and song book, varying on the students level. I provide extra sheet ...
