Want to learn bluegrass, old-time, western swing, country or Irish fiddling? With 18 years playing fiddle and 10 years teaching, I have the experience to help a beginner gain basic skills or an advanced student analyze bowing patterns, moving double stops, backup and improvisational skills and ideas and more. From the student who is picking up the fiddle for the first time to the fiddler who’s been playing their whole life, I hope to inspire a love for traditional fiddle music and culture.
I was first inspired to play the fiddle by my grandfather, Tom Smith. Many of my cousins started learning traditional instruments around the same time and we had a lot of fun jamming at family gatherings and at music festivals in our home state of Indiana. In 2015 I was proud to carry the family tra

Get ready for a truly rich and rewarding experience. Maria studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Viktor Merzhanov. She is a 4th-generation pupil of Franz Liszt and 6th-generation of Beethoven. She was one of the fortunate few (Garrick Ohlsson among them) to study with Roberto Eyzaguirre, who was a student and friend of Claudio Arrau, one of the 20th-century's greatest pianists. Arrau studied with Martin Krause, who was one of Franz Liszt's final pupils. Liszt was taught by Carl Czerny. And Beethoven was Czerny's teacher. Through this great lineage, learn an incredible technique that will enable you to play the music of your dreams!
Maria was born in Moscow, Russia. Her mother was a piano teacher and started Maria playing at 4. She studied at the legendary Moscow Conservatory with Victor Merzhanov. Piano Performance, Associate of Arts, president's list from Valencia College
I teach online or in-person piano lessons from my home studio on my beautiful Steinway baby grand piano.
A typical lesson with me will look something like this:
-The student plays what they have practiced, and we work on any difficult areas and techniques for playing better.
-I introduce new lesson material, asking questions to make sure my student understands.
-We work on music theory, sight reading, good posture, and helpful practice techniques.
-I expect my students to practice every day, just as I do. It is the only way to become proficient.

For online lessons, you may use the online platform provided by TakeLessons, or we can use Zoom. Most of my students are using Zoom.
You will need to order lesson books before your first lesson. After you sign up, we will discuss which books to order. I usually use Alfred's Basic Piano Library lesson and theory books as a starting point for lessons.
You will also need to set up your computer, tablet, ...

I am an experienced composer and performer so I was looking for someone who would focus in on the technical aspects of singing, with an emphasis on proper breathing, and could help me expand the possibilities of my voice and Timothy gave me all the answers and more. Any issue I had, he had a way to explain it that instantly clicked and he was always probing my experience and asking good questions to make sure I was grasping the concepts so I'd be able to practice effectively on my own.
I've had a lot of lessons with a lot of different teachers privately and through university and I am not being hyperbolic when I say that Timothy is one of the best, most insightful, generous teachers that I have ever had the pleasure to work with. I hope I have the opportunity to work with him again one day and continue my journey with my voice, which is a markedly better joinery thanks to Timothy."
Do you dream of singing in Italian, but fear that it might be too complicated or only reserved for the advanced singer? Well, consider that myth debunked! Despite the countless genres of music and singing styles that exist in musical literature today, very few things are as timeless as the Italian art song. What is an art song? As defined by the Cincinnati Song Initiative, an art song is a vocal music composition that is written for a solo voice and piano accompaniment. Art song is the g …
