In the lessons, I always take the time to get to know the student's interests and learning style. I like to use warm-up cards, poems, creatures and all kinds of fun things to make the lesson interesting. For extra incentive I also send lesson notes each week, which helps to remind us both what we worked on in the lesson, and what the student is expected to practice. For more advanced students, the lesson notes also include composer studies and music history. When needed or requested, I'll send video tutorials or recordings.

About Jenna

Hey there future violinist/violist/pianist! Let me tell you a little about my musical background. I started playing violin at 3 years old. Wichita State University gave me the opportunity to get my Music Ed degree and start teaching lessons. I have taken over 500 lessons myself and played in many heavy gigging bands playing gigs almost every weekend. Improvising, Country, Jazz, and Rock are my specialties but I have played lots of Blues, Funk, and Latin jazz as well.

About Rob

Make sure you contact me about scheduling. I have other students and a job that sometimes changes week to week. I may have other times available. Let me know.

Initially I was a complete beginner. I've been studying with Rob for a couple of months now. I think I'm making good progress and certainly a lot of that is Rob's doing. Very personable and flexible, he's really taught me a lot and is really good at teaching in a way that has me progressing steadily and not being overwhelmed by such a challenging instrument.
Jeff
great first lesson. Personable and informative.
Lin
Identified many of my errors right away, has given instruction on how to correct. Have noticed definite improvement each week, and given new skills each week to practice .(I'm not likely to pass this pattern in the near future!)

I feel what makes taking lessons with me unique is my experience teaching private violin and viola lessons in Texas public schools (grades 6-12) and my career as a professional musician having performed in many orchestral, opera, and chamber music settings. Through the lens of that performed experience, I know how crucial an education that includes classical music can be in a student’s overall academic development and maturation. Though not everyone pursues music as a career, no matter the student’s age, I wish to ultimately be a positive support system in fostering their development in their mirrored desirability to make classical music and incorporate it's richness and beauty into their life.

About Michael

Howdy! Thank you for taking the time to check out my TL page! I am a musician formerly based out Dallas, TX, but have recently moved as of November 2021 to Freiburg, Germany! I performed in orchestras across the North Texas and Louisiana area as an orchestral violist, having played profession

Michael is an amazing teacher. He has deep understanding of fundamentals and subtleties involved in playing violin. It helped me understand and improve my shortcomings all the way from developing correct muscle memory, bowing techniques and producing the right sound. He has been a very patient teacher and inspires you to keep at it. Michael is very detail oriented - this helps to discover subtle flaws in your playing, which are easy to miss. It has been a great learning experience, and am looking forward to more classes.

Katie was exceptionally patient and encouraging with my five year old daughter. She was a major asset in teaching my daughter the basics of violin - including proper stance and note formation. I could not recommend her enough.
Michele
Katie was a wonderful violin teacher for my son (four years old at the time). Katie knew how to make learning music and the violin fun through games and various activities. She was attentive and patient, kind and encouraging. She worked with us to allow him to participate in the annual recital--she played a simple, beautiful song while he plucked an open string. She is reliable, accessible, and caring. Couldn't ask for a better, more qualified, and dynamic teacher than Katie to facilitate a positive musical experience a young child.
Michelle
I greatly enjoyed my violin lessons with Katie. She improved my violin technique, encouraged me to tackle challenging solo pieces, and helped me prepare for youth orchestra auditions. She also guided me in producing video recordings for my college applications. On top of that, she is extremely patient and cheerful. Katie is the best!

"Anna's such a wonderful instructor. Having had two teachers in the past, I feel she's very easily communicates with the student. Anna's also very sweet and patient and gives room for the student to grow, always showing how to improve rather than show what you're doing wrong. In just three lessons I already feel like I've considerably progressed in my goals of sight-reading and bowing technique. Thank you so much, Anna!"

She offered my daughter a wonderful mix of classical technique and creative songwriting. I have also observed her teaching in a group setting with the violin program she created for the school called Still Waters in A Storm. So inspiring. She has tons of experience. Concetta is a gem. Age or Aptitude: When to Start Violin Lessons

Some start optimistically young, others driven by passion start much later in life, but when is the right time to start violin lessons? Like any other form of art, there’s simply no black or white when it comes to exploring music. The right time to start can’t be measured exclusively by age.
