I've studied music for over 25 years. I specialize in teaching classical music, but also teach pop/Broadway/Sacred styles. I earned my Bachelor of Music degree in Professional Studies: Piano and have been teaching professionally since February 2008 when MuzikAdict Piano Studio was established. I have experience teaching ages 3-84. I include theory in all my lessons and also love to dwell solely on music theory without emphasis on an instrument if that is your preference . Looking forward to meeting you!

About Rebecca

I began playing piano at age six and I received my early training from Jeanne Pennino and later studied with J. Mitzi Kolar, Krzysztof Brzuza, and Karen Follingstad. I earned my Bachelor of Music degree in Piano, Professional Studies from San Diego State University. I plan to pursue a Master of Arts

Weather you dream to create your own music one day or applying for college to make music to be your life career - you need the knowledge of music theory. I provide individually developed courses of music theory which include subjects such as solfeggio, harmony and music analisys. More than scales, chords and arpeggios, my assignments require from you the usage of a piano to be able to apply the received theory information for further progress.

About Polina

I am an experienced classical pianist with honorable degrees obtained from the most prestigious musical institutions in the world - State Academy of Music (Russian conservatory of music) located in Minsk, Belarus, as well as The College of Saint-Rose, Albany, New York, Unites States. Polina is by far and away the best piano teacher I ever had. Her lessons are of much higher value than what she charges. Her musical knowledge and ability is extraordinary. I would give her 6 stars if I could!
Samantha
I have been with Polina for two years and I cannot recommend her enough. She will introduce you to music in such a way that you cannot help but feel her love and passion for the subject. This is what makes every weekly lesson something I look forward to. Flexible and fun, she has guided me from my first time at the keys to Liszt. As an adult learner, I came in thinking my goals were impossible, but she made it all possible!

Polina radiates kindness, and always knows how to push me to succeed at any given piece I bring to her (even ones that I thought I’d never be able to play). Her teaching style is repertoire over technique which has meant in all my time with her I have never gotten bored with the piano or stuck in the seven levels of Hanon.

I highly recommend her to anyone and everyone, I often brag about her to my friends. Schedule her if you find an opening. It’s not often you can find someone so gifted in teaching music.
Veronica
Polina is an amazing teacher. I learned so much in my first lesson. She's encouraging but honest, which is perfect for those who want real feedback to improve. Can't wait for my next lesson!

Intervals, semi-tones, modulation, transposition, circle of fifths...good grief. What does it all mean? Music theory is the foundation by which we can understand how music is structured. You will be fascinated as we journey through this fun-filled subject. And relax...it's not quantum physics.

About Lawrence

Lawrence loves to teach music, especially piano and organ. He began studying the piano at age 5; by age 12 he was studying the pipe organ and performing at church services in his hometown of Springfield, Illinois. A graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan and the University of Massac

I've been taking lessons with David for more than 2 years, he's amazing... he's very knowledgeable, patient, knows how to explain difficult concepts and can adapt to a broad range of topics, covering different areas that I'm interested on, including music theory, songwriting, guitar and bass, and music production.

David is both a professional musician and an experienced instructor, and you can tell the difference that makes in every class.

We started with at-home classes, but switched to online during the pandemic and that's working pretty good for me to.

I'd recommend David to anyone looking to learn a new instrument, get better at it or expand their music knowledge in general.
George McKale
Simply put, David is a great teacher. His lessons incorporated the perfect blend of theory and patience while opening up new horizons on the fret board. His style of teaching is very flexible so that one can hone in on what excites them. For me, that was jazz and David made a huge difference in my creativity.
Selina
David did a wonderful job, teaching me bass via Zoom with a lot of focus on what I wanted to do. Even though my interests ranged from technical to classical to theoretical to funk, he always had something he could show me and proved to have great knowledge of the instrument as well as of music theory and history. I would recommend him to anyone.

"Hi Ms Bethany, this is Sheenu(Gia & Dia's mom). I was just confused after the class coz I had signed them both for singing lessons not theory lessons. But as far as I know you gave a great class on the basics of theory, which was wonderful. Thank you so much for your excellent class. Please let me know if I need to do anything more to change it to singing lessons.
Thank you!!

Kind regards,
Sheenu."

"As Jim states on his bio, he teaches from age 8 and up. I'm one of his "up" students who's been playing guitar for a few years, but never took time to learn theory because I thought it was too confusing or difficult to learn. After being stuck in a rut for the past 30 years, I finally realized that I could be a guitar player, instead of just playing guitar, by understanding WHY I'm playing what I playing. I planned to take a few lessons to see how it would go. That was 4 months ago. Now when I pick up my guitar, I have a plan and am excited to learn more each week. Jim's approach to teaching theory makes it clear for anyone of any age or expertise. If you're young and want to learn the right way, Jim will teach you the right way. For us older folks, I found out you CAN teach an old dog new tricks... I highly recommend Jimmy!"

Music Student Face-Off: Memorizers vs. Readers | Which is Better?

As you learn songs and work through your music books, do you memorize the notes? Or do you read along every time you play? In this post, music teacher Vanessa G. discusses the pros and cons to the approaches...   Imagine your teacher gives you a piece of music to study. What's your process? Do you listen to a recording, memorizing the melody and the stylistic aspects before you begin, and then as you play? Or would you sit down and sight read the notes, and perfect it from that star …

How to Change the Key of a Song With and Without a Computer

What Does it Mean to Change a Key? To change a song’s “key” means to shift the whole musical system to a higher or lower position. This process is called “transposition.” Performers often need transpose a song to better fit their voices. That way, a performer with a naturally lower singing voice (like myself) will be able to more comfortably sing a song that was originally written for someone with a naturally higher voice. Or vice versa.  For singers, transposition feels fairly …
