Private Saxophone Teacher

Hello!

I am a private music instructor specializing in woodwind instruments looking to take on clarinet, flute and saxophone students in the Orange County area!

My lessons consist of a well balanced coverage of exercises (scales, note patterns, etudes, duets, major repertoire, etc) geared towards building a solid foundation in playing technique. This allows each student to be accurate and expressive with a sense of ease in their playing! Students of the studio are also thrown into the world of music! They are strongly encouraged to attend concerts, listen to music regularly, and attend masterclasses. The goal is not just to learn an instrument, but to also develop a life-long love and appreciation for music!

I am very proud to say that my students soar through their band and orchestra programs in school and obtain a sound quality/sense of musicality way beyond their grade level! The majority of my students excel past their school music programs! They join youth/honor bands ...

About Carter

I believe that everyone has the ability to enjoy and be expressive on an instrument. It is poor instruction and a lack of passion in music education that allows students to become frustrated and bored, ultimately pushing them to quit their instruments. My goal as a music educator is not only to t

After more than fifty years of not touching a clarinet since high school band, one pursuit in retirement was to perform better than my mediocre past. My instruction from Carter has given me tools to achieve my goals with specific insights as to posture, embouchure position, tongue/oral cavity form, fingering, interpretation and more. I always received functional answers to my many questions.

I've been learning for about 6 weeks now and could not ask for more. Excellent teacher helping me reach the goals I have as fast I can yet always with excellence and integrity to the pride of the instrument. Awesome.

It was only a first lesson but I can already tell I'm going to be taking more lessons with Daniel. He's very knowledgeable, patient, and dedicated. He detailed a specific plan for me to work on that isn't too rigid or boring, I'm looking forward to relearning the flute with him.

Wow! Wow! Wow! This was truly money and time well spent. I went into this lesson with no expectations, rather just with the hope of connecting well with a piano instructor that was not only well versed but could ease me into being a student. Paul is a rare treasure. He exceeded all my hopes of what I hoped to gain from my lessons. I would highly recommend him for any piano student. If you're looking to be challenged, and learn any genre of music,, don't wait...book your lessons with Paul. Thank you Paul. I'm looking forward to growing as a student.

I'm a 52 year-old with no music background and today was my first virtual alto sax lesson with Randall. I must admit that I was very intimidated at first and didn't think that I would be able to get the most out of this virtual learning experience. However, Randall made me very comfortable and quickly got me relaxed as if he were right there with me in my living room. We began by him showing me the do's and don'ts of putting my horn together (especially the mouthpiece), fingering, and creating the sound I wanted. I was impressed because he taught me about 5 to 6 notes in this initial session. To be honest I didn't even think that I would've been able to get a note out but I did. Although I didn't want my first saxophone lesson to be virtual, I can confidently say that I will continue my sessions with Randall and highly recommend his services.

Sound is the key. Developing and nurturing a solid sound opens up all other aspects of music. Once we have a solid sound we can depend on everything we play is more effective.
I teach basic musicianship along with advanced sound production techniques.
Spontaneous creation and composition. I can help you freely improvise in any situation and become a functionary player as well as a soloist.

About Dave

I have been playing the saxophone fro 45 years. I think its all about the sound, the tone. I played with the Microscopic Septet and William Parker's Little Huey Creative Music Orchestra.

Strong instrumental playing begins with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of music and the simple act of making a sound from the instrument. Students learn to play music by ear first, and are later introduced to music notation. More advanced lessons emphasize sight-reading, expression, and improvisation.

A woodwind player since age 10, Thomas has experience as a performer and teacher. His previous education has included methodology classes on teaching specific instruments, and he is available to teach intermediate and beginning saxophone lessons.

The first lesson was successful. My particular background in piano is unique, and my needs are atypical as well. I thought Thomas assessed my abilities, lack of abilities, and goals well and quickly. He started me on a different perspective on looking at music (reading the staff) that seems very helpful. I'm encouraged.
