Talented teachers are rare. Like a great coach i sports... the coach doesn’t need to be the top athlete in his field to know how to teach each team member to hone their best abilities, he just has to know and see how to teach you how to get there. Being an outstanding teacher is a great talent all in itself... and that is Jesse. He has that quality and ability to lead, focus and take you where you want to go.

Jesse has given directions on how to successfully become a better musician. His approach and explanation on musical theories was much more understandable than what I was previously reading. Overall, I found the lessons to be very usefull.

For Barbershoppers I need a smooth transition to my falsetto. Kwame put me at ease, we did some exercises and found the transition without me even noticing the change. He is a gifted teacher. I look forward to our next appointment as we start reading music from the Barbershoppers music book. I did not expect such a warm atmosphere. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Classical guitar students start with five subjects.

1) Technique is concerned with the development of the physical mechanics involved in playing the instrument.

2) Scales are a part of basic music vocabulary and building blocks of the musical language.

3) Chords are also basic vocabulary of the musical language.

4) Note reading is not required for every student. It really depends on the students' goals. However, I strongly encourage everyone learn to read musical notation, (more than tablature). Literacy in reading music is analogous to literacy in reading in our English language. Can you imagine how much smaller our world would be if we couldn't read?

5) Classical repertoire (songs) utilize the skills and concepts of all the previously mentioned subjects and are the goal of studying music. And by the way, they are really fun to play.

A beginning student will practice all these subjects as part of the daily practice routine. A half hour practice session will ...

Phil is a consummate musician and is extremely knowledgeable and patient. He helped me to arrange several songs and encouraged me to write my own arrangements, as that really helps one better understand the instrument. I loved our lessons on learning all the scales and modes, too.

Phillips teaching is very low key and suttle but very effective. I am astounded at how much he has taught me in a few weeks.

I have been taking voice lessons with Rob for probably about 2 years now, and he is amazing! He helped me with all of my vocal material for my college auditions, and got my into the musical theatre program at my first choice of school! He has also provided me with tons of knowledge and advice about stuff like auditions and working in the field. Rob has helped me go out of my comfort zone and greatly expanded my repertoire, and I am so grateful for him!
Derek
I began working with Rob about three years ago.. He is one of the most personable teachers that I have ever worked with. The atmosphere never feels like a teacher/ student situation, but more like two friends who are working together to work toward a common goal. He teaches with compassion and understanding at all times, and is never condescending. His talent, knowledge and skill are immense. As a result, I am studying pieces that I would have thought beyond my range. Very highly recommend him.
Peter
I admire Rob as a singer so much. His tone is so good and he makes live performance look so effortless. I'm not that strong of a singer yet, but we are making progress to improve my tone. He's also teaching me how to deliver a stronger performance using stage presence and movement, as well as voice. It helps that he has a great ear for pitch too, so I know when I am singing well. He's encouraging as well as honest, and I look forward to showing off my improved skills sometime soon!

"AMAZING Teacher

There are so many good things I could say about Arlys. I came to her with only a few weeks to prepare for an audition and with no previous lesson experience. In only the four and a half hours she taught me, I feel like it made a huge difference. She has wonderful teaching techniques that she learned professionally, but she's also wonderful at learning along the way. She work with you and suddenly there's a whole new way she finds to teach you. She seems to learn from every lesson she teaches and is so obviously enthusiastic about what she does. Even outside of our lessons, she did a bit of research into my audition song to try and find a way to make it easier to learn. She even called me after my audition to see how it went.
Her wonderful teaching skills aside, she's also great at making you feel comfortable. I went to her full of anxiety and within the first few minutes I was immediately comfortable around her. She also was able to teach me an amazing meditation technique that's not only calming but also makes you more alert, something none of my therapists for my anxiety were able to do.

In short: She knows what she's doing, she learns along the way, she's so easy to relax around, and she shows a great deal of care for her students."

"Nicholas is an inspiring teacher who strives for excellence while focusing on the student's individual situation and needs. Beginning lessons as an adult with some musical experience with other instruments as a child and early teen, he has been able to build quickly on what I already knew, and "undo" improper technique which could have caused physical harm if continued. He is able to encourage and motivate in the difficult and frustrating moments common to all students.

I highly recommend Nicholas for any age or level student."
