We are going to HAVE FUN! I will be customizing your lessons to your needs, your skill level, your age, and most importantly, what you would like to learn on the Dulcimer.
I give lessons on the traditional 3 string dulcimer, although you may see I have double strings on each of the three. This will not interfere in my ability to instruct you. In fact, you may already own or possibly purchase a dulcimer with a double string on the first string, or all three, which is common. It is still considered to be a "3 stringed instrument. Regardless if you have 3 single strings, or double on one or all three, it will still work fine.

I will be including the basic fundamentals such as scales and chords, keeping them fun, not grueling or boring. You will learn how to strum and finger-pick the dulcimer. To do this, we will begin right away using a pick designed specifically for the dulcimer, although a guitar pick will work just as well. (Dulcimer picks are slightly larger than guitar picks). ...

More than 10 years ago, I told a good friend that learning to play the dulcimer was on my bucket list. He made my beautiful instrument and said " now you need to learn to play". 2021 is my year! Fortunately, Rhonda has become my instructor and I look forward to the weekly lessons. Her enthusiasm for teaching, her extensive knowledge, and many years of experience have given me the confidence that I can learn .

I work on the foundations of good playing technique and musical knowledge through a close study of music that interests the student. As a guitarist, I've played and worked with students on Bach sonatas, Dylan/Donovan style fingerpicking, jazz comping and solos, rock, metal and punk riffs, Steve Vai-esque two-hand tapping, as well as songwriting, music theory, and aural skills, so no matter what kind of music you like or how you're looking to improve, chances are I can help take you do it. All levels and ages are welcome.

About Brendon

I have taught music extensively for the past 15+ years in a variety of settings, including teaching private guitar lessons at Saint David's School in Manhattan, teaching private composition lessons and TA'ing two electronic music courses at Yale; teaching guitar and musicianship in public elementary

Brendon helped me get started writing songs / producing music. Brendon was very helpful getting past anxieties with getting started and feeling overwhelmed by all the possible ways you can go about making music. Each week he had suggestions on how to improve the structure of my music. Also, he was willing to go wherever my interests were at.
Furthermore, he's nice.

Every musician was first and foremost a fan of music. My love of music began when my mother took me to a performance of Beethoven's fifth symphony when, coincidentally, I was five. From that point, I started fervently listening to my mother's records (those are the huge, black monstrosities th

My music lessons are fun and educational. Students are busy and dealing with life. Music should not be another thing you "get through". Whether you're young and dealing with multiple subjects in school or you're an adult with a job and responsibilities, music should be the place to escape all of that. I want to teach you whatever you would like to learn and develop a curriculum based on your own wants.

Want to learn songs from your favorite bands? Great! Let's do that!

Want to prepare for college auditions to become a music major? I can help you with that!

Want to play music with your friends and be a part of a cool band? I've been there and done that, and can help you with that too.

Whatever your reason for playing music, whether its for fun or scholarships or auditions or whatever, music should be FUN! I want to help you with that.

There are materials like "Stick Control" and "Survival Guide for the Modern Drummer" but at the end of the day, I want to help you play music, ...

About Kevin

Hi there! I've been drumming for 14 years and teaching for 6 years! I've taught elementary students through college age and beyond. I love seeing my students grow and learn and pursue music from a place of interest, passion, and enjoyment! Music has given me so many opportunities like traveling
