The voice is our first instrument, and accordingly, our most natural one to express the creative impulses of our soul. However, there are several challenges we need to overcome in order to make it really shine.
The first is that we hear our own voice differently than others hear it - from "inside our head." So it takes some practice to learn different ways of hearing ourselves. The second challenge is that most music doesn't happen in isolation, but with other people's involvement. So unless you plan to sing "a capella" (without instrumental accompaniment) and just for your own enjoyment, you need to learn how to relate what you sing to other sounds. This requires a good deal of practice and it is certainly easier with the help of a skilled teacher to help you learn not only what to listen for, but how to control your voice to make it do what you want.
Then there are technical refinements like breath control, articulation, intonation, projection, resonance, ear training, etc.

Standards in studying the English language are always changing. I've been researching common core standards for at least a year and love to come up with ways to help students understand the concepts presented in the common core, by possibly finding different ways to understand parts of speech, sentence diagramming, word usage, spelling, vocabulary and more.
With my two Bachelor's degrees in Music Composition and Technology, I began tutoring students in piano, voice, and composition as it was part of my training. I also have experience writing and editing essays, books, and more for several independent clients. I have experience writing my own books as

I have worked as a tutor for several years and taught a variety of subjects. My main goal is to equip every student with tools they need to be successful. I care more about comprehension and learning, than grades. I work with each student individual to develop a personalized plan of organization, motivation, and accountability.
I have extensively studied vocal performance for many years and continue to add to my own technique. I have a Master of Vocal Performance Degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, where I extensively studied the anatomy of the voice. I am the

Who is your favorite actor? For the past few years, it’s been Denzel Washington, according to polls. Count me amongst the masses! Denzel Washington is fantastic, and he’s my favorite actor, too. For decades, he’s wowed me with his dramatic prowess. The man even has the acting chops to tackle great theatrical works on Broadway, such as A Raisin in the Sun, and blew the critics away there as well. He’s played a wide variety of roles, portraying men in various time periods and from n …

Now that vaccinations are starting to roll out, we’re all starting to believe live theater really will return! And while it may be a while before things are totally back to normal, that makes these next few months a perfect opportunity to get yourself as well-prepared as possible for when auditions and productions resume. We may have spent our downtime mostly binge-watching The Great British Baking Show or learning to knit, but many of us also used the extra free time to tackle house pro …
