I have been playing guitar for about 25 years and teaching for about seven years now. I played in a punk/rock band in high school and have since studied classical and jazz guitar. Currently I write and perform songs in a folk/acoustic style.

I studied classical guitar at the University of Central Florida, performing solo and ensemble repertoire. I can teach proper technique with both hands, music notation, tablature, sight reading, harmonic theory, and how to realize "orchestral" compositions.

I can teach shredding lead guitar riffs or strumming rhythm (typically acoustic) guitar. Whatever genre or style you're into, and whatever skill level you find yourself - I can help you play the songs you love.

About Gio

I studied music at UCF (Orlando), focusing on classical and jazz guitar, but I also have years of experience playing rock, blues, folk, hip-hop, and musical theater on both guitar and drums. I have been teaching guitar, drums, and piano for about eight years to students of all ages. Music is wha

My goal as a teacher is to give you the facility to express yourself through music. The key parts to developing this facility are:

1. theory -- notice i say theory, not rules. learning music theory is not about learning rigid rules that will stifle your creativity. when you learn theory, you learn to identify patterns and give them names so you can remember and reuse them. the more you know your theory, the more ways you know to express your ideas
2. technique -- the last thing you want is for your technique to hinder your ability to express your idea. Having good technique lets your ideas flow naturally. and really, why would you not want to be the best you can be?

When you take lessons with me, you get out of it what you put in. Your job as student is to be honest with what you expect to achieve and my job as teacher is to give you the tools to achieve it

About David

I have been playing music almost my entire life. I first started on trombone in 4th grade then switched to guitar in 6th. I picked up the electric bass in my later teenage years and learned the upright bass (both jazz and classical) in college. My students get the benefit of my education, as well

"Matt has taught me SO much and I advanced so quickly in my playing! Matt taught me how to play the songs and styles I wanted to learn. He introduced me to new styles of music and playing to open my abilities up, and backed it up with the theory of what’s happening in the music I’m playing to understand it.

I became a better player, much tighter with my timing, turned my “chunky” picking into smooth, controlled, efficient, much better sounding playing. Matt helped me lock in to better timing (even different time signatures), and through the nuggets of theory he passed on - gave me the tools I needed to write MUCH better music! I started lessons with Matt to just “learn how to play guitar better”. I definitely got that PLUS a fun well-rounded music education too!

Matt is truly an inspiring teacher who is uber friendly and enthusiastic about teaching. His teaching makes you want to keep picking up the guitar as often as possible!"

"I have a concert gig coming up in the span of a week playing guitar with a big band orchestra doing jazz or band arrangements of various popular songs including a big band arrangement of Play That Funky Music from the 70's. In other words not the easiest stuff to be playing :)! First lesson with Brandi and she cleared up all the trouble spots, tricky rythms and chord changes easily in an hour. She explains musical complexities clearly, knows what she's doing and at the same time makes it easy to understand and execute. I had read about her background in classical and knew she had to be good but was genuinely impressed with how well she understood jazz and funk styles better than I do. ( And I'm 28, have been playing since age 12 and performing publicly in multiple settings since 13) Great personality, a lot of fun to work with, and incredibly knowledgeable! Absolutely recommend!"
