Great teacher! She was able to teach my daughter in 3 lessons what her band teacher couldn’t do in 6 months. My daughter walked away after her first lesson excited and couldn’t wait for her next lesson. You can tell Charis loves what she does.

My experience includes teaching private lessons, both in person and virtually, teaching for the music prep program at a local university, and teaching at a “school of rock” style non-profit academy. In addition to this, I am the camp director of a local Girls Rock! Camp. My teaching style adapts to each individual’s needs and interests. I have years of experience working with ages 5-adult. My goal as a teacher is to help facilitate a lasting interest in music.

In addition to my teaching experience, I also have experience performing and touring, both solo and with a full band.

Rosanne is a wonderful teacher! We've been taking lessons all through COVID and most lessons have been virtual. With both virtual and in person lessons, my son has related very well with her. He has some special needs and she has been very patient with him. Her lessons are geared toward what he wants to play and the style and songs he's interested in learning. She's already professional. I highly recommend her!

Sorcha takes the time to completely understand what you want out of the lessons and how you learn best, then she does a fantastic job of tailoring each practice session to your needs. I love how she observes when you play and catches subtle points to help you improve your performance and get more out of your practice; she really wants to help you learn and enjoy!
She also has great knowledge of various topics in music that you can tap into.

I'm sorry, I cannot handle this Instructor for my children. She wasn't me but she's not quite the people person I expected. Her personality is not a good match for a high school tutor. Unfortunately her English is not good enough. Her accent is entirely too strong. Also she does not know enough Geometry to help my kids.

With Over 12,000 FUN FILLED FLUTE LESSONS TAUGHT, You Too Can Achieve
Your Dream ! My 30 years of teaching experience with a 6 year average length of
study my Flute Beginners quickly achieve Musical and Technical Artistry !

ONLINE REMOTE LEARNING IS ACTUALLY VERY EFFECTIVE !

PLUS, THE “MASTERFUL FLUTE PLAYER” IS ALREADY INSIDE YOU !!
Over my nearly 4 decade career in Classical Music, I have crafted a teaching style that
minimizes practice time, maximizes progress and allows my students, ages 7 through
adult, to have fun while practicing.

I began my music education wanting to be a recitalist and orchestral player but my
career goals changed when I started teaching flute and saw how my students
needed to have a more solid direction than what they were experiencing.
I realized, largely due to Conservatory training in the art of teaching private
flute lessons, that I had the insights into helping them achieve their aspirations
to play the flute.

The secret lies in ...

Hi, I am lucky to have found Julie very early in life so that I can make the most of
my high school years. I began studying flute with her a few years
ago. I was extremely shy and frankly not functioning very well. My academics
were not the problem but it was the "social thing". Even though I knew who I was,
I was always thrown off by how I was supposed to fit in the world.

It's like Julie rolled up her sleeves and went to work. I felt loved, safe and
important ! She started teaching me the flute and through her love of music and
life she taught me to trust myself and that is when my life changed. Everything
began to "click" and for the first time I was not afraid.

I now have many friends, still excelling in my academics but am now working on
difficult solos and orchestral excerpts. I look forward with courage and am
enjoying life instead of fearing it. My problems are problems many young
people experience I think.

In my experience as a member of her flute studio I saw her take a student from
absolute beginner to auditioning for the Boston Symphony Youth Orchestra
performing solos at age 18 that are entrance audition pieces for acceptance
into Yale University's Graduate Program. though my goals in music
are not as serious, she treats me with the same love and caring as her students
who have career aspirations in music.

Julie helps develop that confidence in those who sorely need to feel they have the
right to belong. For a teacher, Julie has it all.
Sophie
Julie's method of teaching is so thorough that it took me from level one solos to
level six in just three years. She is the kind of teacher that makes you want to
practice hard and do well for her !

I began my studies with Julie when I was just ten years old. I am now thirteen.
At nine I also studied piano and violin but it wasn't long after that I dropped the
other two instruments to focus solely on Flute because Julie made each lesson
so much fun !

She also encourages participation in sports and always values high academic
achievement. She wants me to be a "well rounded" student with a positive
attitude so I will be successful not only in my high school years but throughout
my college years and beyond.

She is giving me the gift of music to take with me on my journey through life.
Julie takes the time to listen if I had a rough day and has even attended one
of my field hockey games and varsity swim meets. She says that seeing how
I function in other venues helps her to fine tune her approach to teaching me
the flute.

Start with 45 minute lessons but quickly advance to 60 minute lessons to get
the most out of every session with Julie. They are so valuable !
Laurelle
It is because of Julie's expertise and dedication that I am now successfully
playing the flute and performing in several select groups locally, achieving high
scores in competitions and beautifully expressing myself in solo recitals.
All of this would not have happened without her tenacity and I am so grateful.

I now sit first chair in my high school"select" wind ensemble but it wasn't always like
that. When I was nine I began playing the flute and my mother found me a private
flute teacher named Julie. I was quite a challenge for her because I was extremely
shy and didn't talk much. In fact, it took me several years to muster up a few
words even though there were a lot of thoughts going on in my head.

Julie was so kind and patient with me. It was like she knew exactly the anxiety I
was feeling and little by little after a few years gradually I was able to express
myself out loud. She knew of my intelligence and passions and made it her
quest to help me communicate so I could find more enjoyment in life.

When Covid hit and everyone went into remote learning, Julie gave all her students
a second free lesson per week because she wanted to keep us motivated and
positive. She is truly amazing !!

"If you are looking for a great teacher who is also a consummate musician and performer, then look no further. I hired Adam as flute instructor at the Conservatory Lab Charter School in Boston where I was co-director and founder of one of the top youth orchestra programs in the country. He went on to produce the best flute section I have ever had the privilege to work with. There is not enough space here to list all of the wonderful things about Adam, as a flutist, musician, and teacher, but I can tell you that if you are lucky enough to get into his private flute studio, you will look back and see that he was one of the best all around teachers you ever had."

"My daughter plays flute in a high school wind ensemble and orchestra. She is first chair of 23 and has recently been learning very challenging music including many solos. When she needed instruction above what her school could offer her, I went online and found Brenda's profile. Brenda's resume for performance and teaching is impressive. What the resume can't speak to is how well she works with her students. Brenda helped my daughter immensely when she needed it most not only technically with her playing, but with her confidence. I would recommend Brenda as an instructor for any age or skill level."

"As a parent of a 14 year old flutist, I was apprehensive in doing online flute lessons initially but am glad that I did. We chose Pam for our on line lesson teacher based on her high level of experience. My daughter needed help with her audition music and Pam was able to work with her to get her ready with our tight deadline that we had. Pam even took it upon herself to look into all the material that was needed for her audition and scanned the missing docs that I overlooked. She is always thinking ahead and preparing material for the next lesson. I would highly recommend Pam for a private lesson teacher, I am glad we found her!"
