I teach beginning saxophone students basic note reading. Advanced students can learn theory and improvisation.

About John

I have been teaching young people and adults how to play musical instruments for over 20 years. A lot of my students are well on their way to a rewarding future with music, some as professionals and others as hobbyists. In addition to being a teacher, I am also a professional performer who has worke

My son has taken lessons from John for over four years and the results have been incredible. When my son first began piano I noticed that he taught the right way. Many teachers don't care about the method as long as whatever the child is learning seems good.

John has consistently taught sight reading as a necessity. I want my son to be able to play anything eventually and this foundation that he has taught my son not only has him on the right track, my son has also learned perfect pitch, chords and he knows theory at an age where most children have no clue. I am not promising that your child will learn all of that, but with the foundation and proper teaching that John provides, it is more than a possibility if your child loves music as mine does.

John's lessons are the only formal music training my son gets and the results are excellent. John's lessons are worth far more than what we pay and he is leagues above the garden variety "School of Rock" type of learning a lot of kids get. I ALWAYS LOVE when my son whips out his latest setlist of songs in front of family and friends. It makes him very proud to do so and it usually puts a genuine smile of happiness and confidence on his face that would make any parent happy.

If you want the right music experience which means learning the right way, you would be lucky to have John Sanders teach your child. He knows how to get it done.

John is amazing! Pre-Covid, he taught my daughter piano in person. He has beautifully navigated teaching piano in the height of a pandemic. My daughter has not missed a beat! John encompasses all the qualities I could hope for in a music teacher. He is patient, kind, and my daughter looks forward to her classes with him each week. I doubt anyone would regret hiring John to work with his/ or her child!

I have three children with varying levels of commitment to learning to play the piano, and they each took a break from lessons at different times. I think John Sanders did a great job of managing that so they stayed interested and didn’t feel pressured. The individual instruction is most helpful, and all three kids progressed pretty quickly because it was driven by their individual goals—not a too-demanding teacher.

Hello! I am a violinist with over 20 years of performing experience and ten years of teaching experience. I have had the opportunity over the years to study with many brilliant teachers who have passed on their tools and philosophies to me. I have also in turn taught many students from a variety of backgrounds and abilities, from beginners to self-taught to those preparing for collegiate auditions. I work with 20+ students each week, both online and in-person. I offer private lessons for beginners through advanced violin, and beginner ukulele.

My goal in teaching is to enable students to become critical thinkers and gain confidence in their playing. As often as possible, I involve the student in music-making decisions. Playing music is a creative endeavor. It's important that the process of learning music is enjoyable and stimulates the mind.

At the same time, I am passionate about providing training in the fundamentals of technique so that students can experience true ease of ...

I am enjoying taking violin lessons with Rebecca! She knows so much about the violin and always takes time to answer all of the questions I have. Often she will play different pieces with me and it has helped me to know the timing and how the song or scale should sound. She is very kind and easy to talk to but she also knows how to show the areas that need to be worked on. She plays the violin beautifully and I am learning a lot from her.

Ms. Panayiotou's empathy for her students and her love of her craft are evident in her teaching style. Her dedication and skill, not only to music, but to tailoring lessons to the individuality of each of her students sets her apart from other teachers. She's not a task master that uses rigid method, but teaches skills through level-appropriate music that engages her students on an individual basis.

How Do Actors Cry?

Actors often draw their audience in through strong and seemingly authentic emotions.  Perhaps you watched a particularly emotional scene in a movie or play and wondered to yourself whether or not the emotion the actor was showing was truthful.  Perhaps they were crying and you could see the tears falling.  Are those real tears?  The answer is, probably, yes. Crying on command is tricky business and like everything else, takes preparation and practice. However, there are some tips and tri …

Top 5 Wildest Method Acting Techniques in Hollywood History

If you've ever watched an actor disappear into their role, shedding genuine tears or adopting mannerisms that aren't their own, then you've seen method acting techniques in action. Most people think of this approach as "becoming a character," and some actors do take that literally, pretending to actually be the person they're playing.  Method acting is taught everywhere from Hollywood to Broadway. But a few notable actors are well-known for taking it to award-winning extremes, making enormous …

How to Read & Understand Stage Directions

If you’ve ever been in a play or musical you will be familiar with the term ‘stage directions’. For those who don’t know, stage directions are,  “an instruction in the text of a play, especially one indicating the movement, position, or tone of an actor.” Stage directions can also be instructions for the director, such as the way the stage should be lit or what kind of sound effect could be used.  Stage directions can also tell an actor how to deliver a line— pace of speech, emot …
