I have been teaching and performing professionally for over 30 years at all levels, from beginners to post-doctoral professors of saxophone at major universities. I am a retired professor of saxophone and my students have won various competitions at all levels. We will focus on developing proper technique, building good practice habits, and long term improvement.

About Andy

My students have described our lessons as being fun, intense, humorous, and thought-provoking. Lessons are always tailored to the individual student, because the lessons are about the student making progress toward their goals, not about me. I put a great deal of thought into how to approach each st

3rd lesson done and couldn't be happier with our online teacher. Mr. Wen is informative and very professional. Recommend for anyone.

Dr. Wen was the best professor and lesson instructor I have ever had. I took lessons with him for over seven years starting in high school and throughout my entire college. He shares his expertise in music theory, techniques, and instrument mechanics. He really helped me gain confidence in my playing abilities, showed me how I should be practicing in order to get the most of each rehearsal, and taught me so much about myself as a player. His ability to instruct on every aspect of playing the instrument is something I really admire. Need help rhythmically? He will help you understand time, measurement, and notes. Need help technically? He has all the ways to practice to get that much closer to perfection and how to maintain it. Need help with scales? He will help you to truly understand the scale in order for you to play it better. Not only will he help with the "how-tos," he will explain the why. Needing help with breathing techniques or articulations? He will take you through exercises that will enhance every aspect of your playing. He sets the standards high, and helps you reach your goals. I will always recommend Dr. Wen!

Dr. Wen is an outstanding saxophone instructor, performer, and technician! I learned more from him in my first two 30 minute lessons than I had in 15 years of playing.
He will teach you how to make your practice time more productive, alternate fingerings to play more in tune, techniques to make note transitions easier, how to prepare new reeds for playing.... and on and on.
I had not played for a very long time. Dr Wen got me from there to where I was playing in a University Wind Ensemble, a quartet, and a community band. He also knew exactly where my saxophone needed to be adjusted to make it play better.
Dr Wen was my instructor for approximately 7 years. I learned a tremendous amount from him. You can’t do any better than Dr Andy Wen. He’s outstanding!

I offer a complete and in-depth understanding of how to play the saxophone for students of any skill level. I have a degree in Jazz Saxophone from the highly acclaimed Frost School of Music at the University of Miami, and am extremely experienced in many other instruments and genres. I have experience teaching in public schools as well as teaching privately, so I am used to nearly every possible situation. I specialize in catering my lessons to the specific goals of my students and take pride in creating an enjoyable environment for each individual!

My lessons focus on the basics and fundamentals of saxophone, in addition to:
- reading music
- improvisation and soloing
- ensemble and orchestral playing
- genre specific skills (such as growling, vibrato, tone, altissimo, etc.)

I think it's important to teach what the student wants to learn, so I am open to working on songs and pieces that aren't necessarily the norm for saxophonists!

About Christopher

Hey there, I'm Chris! I've been studying and playing multiple instruments since I was 3 years old, and have dedicated my life to creating and teaching the best music possible. I individualize each students instruction. I keep in mind the students and parents goals and schedule when I make this plan.

About Harry

I started playing clarinet in the school band at age six. My father was a musician, and he thought that playing in the school band would help me overcome my extreme shyness. I remember my first music lesson. I really liked my teacher. He came to my house, and he helped me to care for my clarinet

Harry helped my daughter polish up some pieces for an audition. She was nervous and didn't feel fully prepared. Three visits from Harry gave her some great instruction and the confidence to go in and nail her audition!

My son has had three lessons so far, and we have been very impressed. Mr. Grainger does a great job of encouraging my son through positive feedback, making lessons fun, and giving him very specific, targeted feedback to improve his playing. He has been very flexible and responsive to our changing needs. I highly recommend him.

I will teach you the fundamental basics as well as some tricks I learned from various artists I've played with. We will be using the Jamey Abersold books, Bob Mintzer books, and some of the tunes in the fake books. Also we will work on scales. I will also teach you how to write and compose your own music using my background music I send you.

About Frixos

Frixos states that his love for music probably started before he was born. “I’m pretty sure the Motown sounds my mother loved to listen and move to permeated to me through her.” Add to that his exposure to different ethnic sounds like Greek (his origins) folklore and contemporary music, Portug

We love Frixos! He is a wonderful teacher and person. We were unsure how online classes would go, but it’s been great. Frixos has done an excellent job of teaching our granddaughter. He makes it easy for her to learn, yet still challenges her.

It has been an absolute pleasure working with and learning from Damien during the start of my clarinet playing experience. He has been an incredibly patient, kind, and helpful instructor as evident in his willingness to listen to and respond to my desired performance goals. From the beginning, he has been willing to help tailor his instructional method to meet me at my experience level as well as facilitate playing the pieces I wish. Damien is a laid-back and easy-going instructor that I would recommend to anyone looking to build on existing knowledge or start learning the clarinet.
