Extremely knowledgeable teacher. I wanted to understand the music theory, not just how to memorize chords. James is a great instructor for this because his whole approach is understanding the why, not just the how. Also very flexible and available for his students.

Solid knowledge and good guidance on theory and exercises to develop fretboard strength.

As someone who came in with little to no experience playing an instrument, Jimmy was the perfect start for my musical journey. He taught me not only the fundamentals of the bass guitar, but also the fundamentals of music in general, which I can carry with me as I develop as a musician. Highly reccomended.

I have taught guitar since 2012 and have been playing since 2000. I am happy to take students at the beginner and intermediate levels. I believe strongly in integrating music theory and ultimately moving students toward musical self-suffiency, rather than focusing exclusively on learning particular pieces.

Teaching music is truly one of my passions. Each lesson is personalized towards the students goals, while simultaneously building a solid musical foundation. Music is a great medium for self-expression, and it is in my best interest to help my students achieve their fullest potential as a guitarist and musician.

About Ryan

I began my musical training in Huntington Beach, California, guided by esteemed blues musician Walter Trout. Upon moving to New Jersey in 2010, I was gradually exposed to the New York metropolitan area jazz scene, becoming enamored with it. This passion led me to the New Jersey Performing Arts Cente

Inspired by the great Jazz and Classical soloist of the past, I took up guitar at a young age after playing woodwinds for years. I can take you as far as you want to go.

My love of music and musical talent was discovered when I was just five years old. An uncle gave me a plastic recorder and, without lessons or help from anyone, I was playing melodies within days. Soon after I started taking private lessons on Saxophone and Clarinet. I played my first paying job

He always has great tips and exercises to work on in between lessons which motivates me to keep practicing. Really nice guy."

"As a self taught guitar player of more than 20 years I found myself "playing inside the box". William was able to give me techniques and advice to drastically improve my playing. From beginners to more advanced players, William is phenomenal. I worked at a large music store in Tempe for 12 years and for the last several years William was the only instructor I sent my clients to. I don't vouch for many people but I am more than confident vouching for William."

"I have been meaning to write this review for a while. I have been coming to Ahmad for lessons for about 6 months. I have tried on two occasions to learn guitar from other instructors but quickly became frustrated and gave up. My time with Ahmad has been a completely different experience. He is a fantastic instructor and he focuses on building the fundamentals. Using a foreign language as an analogy, my other instructors started by just teaching me how to pronounce different phrases, without teaching what the individual words meant or how to modify the sentences. Ahmad starts by teaching the vocabulary and how to construct any sentence you want. He is very patient, sends you home with excellent lessons to practice, and once you get to the point where you simply need time to improve technique before you can advance any further, he switches to teaching basic music theory, so that you can continue to learn while you wait for your hands to catch up with your brain.

If you want to spend the least amount of money on guitar lessons, I would encourage you to go learn from some college kid, as you will spend $80 on one or two lessons and then just give up. If you want to actually learn how to play guitar, come see Ahmad."

"My son has never played a musical instrument so I wasn't sure how this would go, but Christopher has really connected with him. He came home and actually practiced during the week! And Christopher always comes out after the lesson and gives me a little update which matters to me as a mom. I also appreciate how he doesn't just boot him out the door at the end of the lesson. AND my son is actually talking about music! Definitely learning more than just some chords. Good instructor who obviously loves and respects music. :)"
