Students can start with me as a beginner or as an advanced student looking to learn new practice skills, new technique, skills, and bow strokes. Students work on reading music, music theory, solo music, scales, exercises for tone and coordination, vibrato, sight reading, rhythm, audition music, and orchestral music. I have zoom performances several times a year. I teach a variety of music styles such as jazz, classical, romantic period music, 20th Century music, contemporary music, bluegrass, Celtic, Irish Fiddle, Scottish Fiddle, movie music, and popular music. I recommend many youth orchestras in the area that I encourage my students to join. I help students work on audition music for All Southern Youth Orchestra and All State Youth Orchestras and other Youth Orchestras and university auditions. I go at the student's pace and have started out many beginners that have reached Suzuki Book 10 level.

I'm the gramma of Chloe (the student)who is 12 yrs old and taking Viola lessons from Jill over Zoom for home school. And I have to say as I was listening in the background I was thinking, Wow! It's as if they're old friends already! She has a very reassuring and friendly personality. And Chloe already learned something in that first lesson when Jill was trying to assess Chloe's abilities. I'm sure you'll immediately like her teaching abilities as much as we do.

Jill is just amazing! She breaks things down for me in session to help me develop my skills in a manner that helps the information just sick. She is always so patient and has such a great sense of humor.

My daughter has been learning from Jill to play violin for more than five years and she has improved dramatically over that time. She also takes piano lessons with Jill which has fed her musical curiosity. Jill is patient, positive, and an expert in her craft. Great teacher!!!

My 7 year old son and I take violin lessons with Mark both online and in-person. I returned to the violin after a 35 year hiatus and my goal was to play duets with my son. We are now doing just that under Mark’s guidance and instruction. I couldn’t be happier to have found Mark. He is excellent teacher, communicator and he has a wealth of knowledge. I am always learning something new and looking forward to our lessons every week!

My gifted son needs challenging and stimulating activities to help him balance all of his feelings. I was extremely hesitant with signing him up because he is only 4. However he instantly connected with Landon and said he has a fantastic time. I absolutely love how Landon has a gift to communicate music without watering down terminology but slowly speaking so that children can understand. He truly has a gift. We look forward to the next one.

Hello! My name is Sarah and I am a recent graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music, where I received both my MM as well as my BM degrees in violin performance. I've studied with with many world renowned musicians and am a very active international performer, performing from CA and CO to London and Cuba.

I am a native of California, born and raised in Los Angeles and have been surrounded by musicians my whole life. With both my parents and my brother playing the cello, I have always found passion and love for music and the community built by musicians. I started playing piano at a young age and after a few years transferred to violin which I then dedicated myself to and grew into my career.

Lessons are whatever you need them to be, but in general I will focus on using scales, etudes and solo repertoire to: solidify technique, improve ear training, and expand your musical portfolio.

I believe that music can be learned and loved by everyone from young children to adults and by ...

As a professional violinist I have had the privilege to study and work with countless incredible musicians, including the Cavani Quartet, Peter Salaff, Keith Robinson, the Dover Quartet, and the Juilliard Quartet. Sarah really helped me with my basic techniques! I've been trying to learn how to play violin by myself over the pandemic and finding online lessons with her was the ANSWER. She's incredibly kind and patient and explains posture and walks me through scales and etudes to strengthen my basics. Sarah also has a broad understanding of repertoire, which I hope to also be able to play soon!
Zoey
Sarah is a great teacher! Her combined use of technical and musical ideas has increased my appreciation for music and has made me better at the violin!
Sarah
Can't recommend Sarah enough! She is very good at assessing a student’s abilities and interests and adjusting her lessons accordingly. She makes the lessons fun and challenging.

"My 17-year-old son looks forward to his lessons with Mel. My goal was to restore my son's love of the violin that he started to play many years ago. Lessons with Mel did just that. My son says that Mel's delightful and personable style makes it safe for kids to be kids who are learning and growing. I hear Mel play things during my son's lessons and as a musician, I can tell he is a violinist and a musician of the highest order. I was so impressed. He keeps the lessons focused but fun. My son is already improving and more importantly, he is in love with the violin again. My son and I highly recommend him. He's a gem."

"Wow! What a great experience it has been with Humberto. I wanted a teacher that was passionate about the violin and I had a feeling that that was Humberto when I was selecting an instructor. I was right!!! His methodology and teaching style has me excited to practice, excited to learn and excited to see him every week. He is all about my progress and understanding and encouraging my own passion to play. As an adult, you always hear that, oh, you know, you'd be better off as an eight year old learning a new instrument than as a mature adult. Let me say that you can do anything you want to do at any age as long as you have the desire. Humberto has made my desire a reality and has put me on a path of what I think will be a long relationship with the violin and with -- happily, if I may say -- Humberto! To anyone out there looking for a good instructor, I highly, highly recommend Humberto."
