I have been a songwriter for 5 years. Songwriting is often thought to be about writing about your life. It can be, but in fact some of the most prolific song lyrics have been written without any real story behind it. What writers such as The Eagles, Michael Jackson, John Mayer, Nirvana, etc used was their ability to project the feelings of those around them into their song for inspiration. Their imagination, life experiences, and repetition guided them to write lyrics that wouldn’t even be how they normally speak. Through my lessons, I will talk you through my process, we will go over exercises I use to help me overcome “writers block” and talk about what makes a good song. Your homework will include listening to lyrics and analyzing them. We will play rhyme games to improve improvisation, and I can even help with current lyrics you’re working on. If you’ve ever wanted to write songs but didn’t know where to start, sign up and let’s get started!

I enjoy providing a foundation of good technique and music theory. I teach the traditional method of reading music. I welcome adult beginners as well. I also encourage serious voice students to add piano to their studies to improve their musicianship, help them learn their material independently, and enable them to play for themselves in practice

Hi! I can definitely help you and math is my most favorite subject to teach!! From my twenty years of classroom teaching (6 Middle School, 14 Elementary) and years of specialized Mathematics training, I have tons of materials and manipulatives and cool, fun ways to help you learn your math (you just need access to a computer, paper, post it's, pencils, and a few crayons). During each session, we will complete any homework, address questions about skills being taught in class, learn new strategies, practice newly learned skills, and prepare for any tests or quizzes. I will also focus on reteaching unmastered skills from previous grade levels. I will provide practice questions and mini-lessons on skills, until they are learned. This is what will help boost the understanding of the current grade level objectives being taught.
I will naturally connect all skill concepts and show where they fit in the foundation and context of already mastered skills within the Grade Level Common Core ...

For the beginner we start learning immediately, by choosing what guitar and why. The different methods of sitting with the guitar, as well as standing. We then go over tuning your instrument, these things make us more familiar with the instrument. We then learn new songs by playing either chords (harmony) or melodic lines, (melodies or scales). The beginner will also learn to use "proper technique" which includes playing on fingertips, thumb placement for the fretting hand and other approaches. The picking hand techniques include and are not limited to finger picking, or the use of the plectrum.
For intermediate player it's all about theory and practice. This level of student will learn scale and chordal theory, and apply them to existing songs as well as learning the new songs with the theory in mind. More advanced picking techniques and the ability to know when to use what picking approach when reading the the rhythm figures on the staff. Knowledge of song composition is ...

Patternmaking for most beginners seems mysterious and intimidating. It is a subject a lot of sewists try to avoid. As a professional working in the fashion industry for more than a decade, I had the same fear as many of you. It took lots of trial and perseverance to overcome challenges, and carve out a successful career. The First Step is to Make Mistakes! Many of my students are worried about making mistakes. They want to be sure every step they take is correct. Multiple attempts and fai …

The end of the game has come. You have successfully out-maneuvered and outfought your opponent, conquering large swaths of the chessboard, and approaching that triumphal moment when you will topple the opponent’s king and declare that he has fallen---in other words, a checkmate (recall that “checkmate” is an anglicization of “shah mat”, Persian for “the king is dead”)… Only to realize that you don’t quite know how to finish the game, which inevitably results in a slapsti …
