My son looks forward to his French lessons with David. After being a virtual student during Covid-19, my son returned to school this year to find he was behind the students who went in-person last year. My son had a lot of anxiety from falling behind but said David “makes it (catching up) fun.”

I took 8 years of Spanish classes and lived in Ecuador where I used Spanish on a daily basis.

My teaching philosophy is to help students engage in learning. I find that a personal connection to new information makes it more engaging and meaningful, and students remember it better too. It's also more fun.

That being said, if learning is more readily achieved for your student through other methods, we will do whatever works best. I cater to results, because my ultimate goal is the student's success.

About Joshua

I am a tutor who earned a music teaching degree, substitute taught, and didn't become a school teacher. I held professional tech retail jobs and am supplementing my life with my passion - education. Whatever subject or instrument I teach, I celebrate students' successes; and I enjoy helping learn

Our son first time playing bassoon. Base on my son experience, he find Joshua to be very nice, patients, and explains a lot of information. It help him understand about the instrument and the sound when he play. He do have a sense of humor which help my son to have fun and be more comfortable. He also teaches other instruments, too. Highly recommended to everyone!!!!

¡Bienvenidos a todos! I believe immersion is the fastest and most fun way to learn a language, which is how I learned Spanish while living in Bogotá, Colombia for six years. Luckily, it only took a fraction of those years to learn the language, and learning a language can be a relatively quick and fun experience for you too! In my classes, we can practice conversation skills for your travels, work on listening and reading comprehension, writing, pronunciation, study for tests, and just have fun with the Spanish language. I welcome learners of all levels in my classroom, let the learning begin!

One of the most important ways that I support my students is by creating a positive learning environment. In my classes, I encourage students to ask questions, feel confident in their potential, and enjoy the process of learning. The teaching techniques that I use are adapted from the Self-Determination Theory by Deci and Ryan and they are beneficial to student engagement and intrinsic ...

My name is Angie and I am a native Spanish speaker from Colombia, a business administrator and Spanish tutor in my home country. I have been tutoring since 2018 with exchange students from the United States and Canada who were studying at my university.
The way I teach Spanish is informative and fun with theory and practice at the same time. I work according to the student's needs, if they want to learn Spanish to travel, work, study, etc. I'm offering free trials so we can get to know each other and make sure we feel comfortable.
Regarding the study material, I offer two options: the first is that I send the necessary material for each class (books, texts, etc.) Or I can work with the book that the student wants.
My schedule is quite flexible. I work in the mornings, afternoons, or evenings during the week and on the weekends. I work according to the time available to my students.
I know how it is to start learning a new language and I know how difficult it can be, but with ...

Angie is a great and fun teacher!!! I booked her to help my daughter with her Spanish lessons as she was doing so bad in class. Angie has helped her get over the little issues she had, and has made Spanish fun for her now. Now she walks around the house, Naming things in Spanish, and using Spanish phrases. She’s also doing much better in class now especially with her pronunciation which is a major part of her grade in school. I would definitely recommend Angie to anyone.

John is a fantastic instructor. He has a love for educating others on musical expression and he is a wellspring of musical knowledge. He provides a depth to the piano that I wouldn't have noticed if I taught myself how to play.

John emphasized how to shape musical phrases to make music as opposed to a collection of notes. He had a good ear for honing in on my weaknesses such as how some notes that I played stuck out or the movement of my arms. Most importantly, he taught me how to approach practicing the piano in an effective way. I learned how to listen to myself and how give each note, phrase, and piece the attention and musicality it needed to sound beautifully.

For an adult learner as myself, he was accommodating with how busy I was. He adjusted to my needs and work schedule and taught at a reasonable pace. However, he also never veered from his expectations and praised what I was doing right and provided methods to fix what I was doing wrong.

Although there were times when John expressed his passion for music by delving into tangents on the broader historical significance of pieces, his mini-lectures were never irrelevant nor inappropriate. For example, he commented on how in waltzes, the rhythm on the left hand would need to emulate how a Romantic era string section would play it. For anyone who is serious about how or why pieces of music are meant to be played in a certain way, John is great about contextualizing pieces to make them sound great.

Most importantly, he made practicing piano something that was both enjoyable and challenging, which is difficult to find in a teacher. I owe a great deal of my musicianship to John and he met my expectations of learning the piano. Thank you!
Kenny
John is really great. He takes the time to understand what your goals are and teaches according to your needs. He is patient and provides constructive comments.
