I've been taking piano lessons with Jonathan for over a month now and I've been very pleased with his teaching. He's extremely knowledgeable and skilled, but what I appreciate most is his enthusiasm during lessons. He keeps the lessons fun, even when the subject matter is difficult. On top of this, he's just a cool, nice guy who I've enjoyed getting to know.

Working with Johnathan has been a joy.

It was my purpose setting out to study music in general, not just to study an instrument but to use the instrument as a means of approaching music in the abstract. I set out to study music’s mechanics and theoretical foundations.

Jonathan is very knowledgeable and very meticulous. He has a precise and analytical sort of mind, and very strong foundations in his classical training.

To have a wealth of knowledge in one's subject is not enough, one also has to know how to teach (which is a whole skillset of its own). It is clear Jonathan is an experienced teacher. I have never felt rushed with Jonathan, he is very generous with his time. He provides ample resources for study outside of our sessions, and is quick to respond to emails. He has lent me books, sent me links to videos, and provided me with plenty of homework.

Jonathan has also been very accommodating in allowing me to have some authority in planning lessons and exploring my own interests. Particularly I wanted to study modal music and found a folk song in the Locrian Mode. We took a break from the Suzuki work we had been doing and he helped me transcribe the song and practice.

I could not recommend Jonathan enough, I am switching focus from violin to piano for the time being and will be employing him as my piano tutor, and I’m very much considering taking spanish lessons under his tutelage as well.

Ian Really enjoyed his lesson. Jonathan is very knowledgeable and helped Ian with his basic skills and gave him great pointers. He also gave him an outline and daily practice requirements.

I first started learning French when I was in high school and was amazed at how many similarities it shared with Spanish (which both descend from Latin) which helped me to pick up things a lot faster. I have since lived in the "French House" (at the Foreign Language Student Residence, part of on-campus housing at BYU) for two semesters where residents are required to speak their target language while in their respective apartments. I also took a third-year advanced grammar French class while at college while living in the French House. French is just an awesome language to learn!

Bonjour à tous! Hey y'all! Born and raised in Geneva, Switzerland, French is my native language. I'm specialized in adult teaching and critical care nursing, I worked more than 20 years with adults, children and families in Switzerland and in Montreal, Canada. Finding the best way to learn depending on who you are and what goals you have is one of my specialties. I like to provide a dynamic, fun and customized learning environment to my students.

I can provide vocabulary, grammar, verbs, conversation as well as cultural aspects from different French speaking countries, such as Switzerland, France, Quebec and Belgium.
I moved to Richmond four years ago, bringing many French books and ressources that could be used during lessons.

I was totally unprepared today, sadly. I didn’t cancel. I told Evelyn up front that I wasn’t prepared. She said, “No problem.” Evelyn was an Olympic Champion! She worked really hard to make the lesson meaningful, and smooth for me. I hung up feeling super great! I was successful, I learned a lot, because of her. She is a really talented teacher. I feel blessed.

I've been teaching French since 2002 and my students have gone on to develop a deep love of French culture, travel abroad, and make new friends. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to communicate in it in everyday situations and as time goes on you'll be able to watch films and listen to and understand music in this language. I've been teaching French as a second language for years. Within the first few lessons, I promise you will be able to pronounce the letters, to make short sentences and use them, as time goes on, you'll be able to introduce yourself, describe your family and your job. I start teaching essentials: colors, numbers, days of the week, seasons, etc... with greetings and practicing the daily routine plus reading basic children’s books to enrich your vocabulary then continuing with more advanced reading materials including newspapers and articles...
I use my own "simple" tools but also ready to help you with your own book or exam. I have experience with students of all ages and I can't wait to meet you!
Je suis prête à vous aider et je vous encourage à commencer tout de suite :) Bonne chance

My only goal is to reach your needs and desire to learn a new language then proceed from there in a fun immersion method. As per my student's testimony, I am very patient. I like to innovate to engage early learners (flashcards, children's books, stories, songs), then I move to more advanced arti

I've been working with Marie for about a month and it's been a great way to take my beginner French learning to another level after months of learning via an app. Her command on the French language is evident and she is very patient (especially when I've had to reschedule sessions several weeks in a row!). I'm looking forward to continuing my lessons with her.

Marie is a great teacher! I always looked forward to my French lessons each week and Marie was always patient and fun to practice with. Highly recommend lessons with her!

My son is a very active 7 year old. Teaching him Arabic via zoom is a challenge of its own. Due to our Summer schedule my son has temporarily stopped taking classes with Marie (but our goal is for him to resume once school is back in session). With that being said, Marie was always very patient with my son and found ways to keep him intrigued. Even if it meant to talk about "lizards"! I liked the fact that Marie expressed to my son that it was his responsibility to gather his worksheets, prepare for the class, and do any extra work. That showed me that she took the extra step(s) to also teach him responsibility, which was a bonus!!!!

"I had the pleasure of learning higher intermediate/conversational French with Philippe last year for several weeks. I must say that he was the best French professor I ever had. He was extremely meticulous with his approach and took the time to understand my strengths and weaknesses and curated the course based on that. He understood that there were days when I was finding the right words and would take the lead in our conversations. Whereas, other days, he would let me lead the discussions. We discussed on topics related to politics, society, religion, science, travel and business. He was extremely polite, and professional and didn't impose any of his beliefs and stayed true to his goal of helping me improve my French skills. By the end of our session, I was able to make a presentation of my work in international development and global health with him in French. He even helped me translate my poem in French. In addition to providing me with the ears to understand spoken French better, and the ability to speak more correctly, he also immensely helped with grammar topics such as subjunctive, future, and conditional sentences. I provide my highest recommendation of Philippe and assure you that he will make your French learning experience the one to remember."

I am also doing a few other online studies, and find that my lessons with Jean-Luc really complement that. In particular, I am learning correct pronunciation and when it is correct to use certain phrases."
