Hello!

I am a private music instructor specializing in woodwind instruments looking to take on clarinet, flute and saxophone students in the Orange County area!

My lessons consist of a well balanced coverage of exercises (scales, note patterns, etudes, duets, major repertoire, etc) geared towards building a solid foundation in playing technique. This allows each student to be accurate and expressive with a sense of ease in their playing! Students of the studio are also thrown into the world of music! They are strongly encouraged to attend concerts, listen to music regularly, and attend masterclasses. The goal is not just to learn an instrument, but to also develop a life-long love and appreciation for music!

I am very proud to say that my students soar through their band and orchestra programs in school and obtain a sound quality/sense of musicality way beyond their grade level! The majority of my students excel past their school music programs! They join youth/honor bands ...

About Carter

I believe that everyone has the ability to enjoy and be expressive on an instrument. It is poor instruction and a lack of passion in music education that allows students to become frustrated and bored, ultimately pushing them to quit their instruments. My goal as a music educator is not only to t

After more than fifty years of not touching a clarinet since high school band, one pursuit in retirement was to perform better than my mediocre past. My instruction from Carter has given me tools to achieve my goals with specific insights as to posture, embouchure position, tongue/oral cavity form, fingering, interpretation and more. I always received functional answers to my many questions.

I've been learning for about 6 weeks now and could not ask for more. Excellent teacher helping me reach the goals I have as fast I can yet always with excellence and integrity to the pride of the instrument. Awesome.

I’ve started both speaking voice and singing lessons with Lance. My primary goal was to speak with a less nasal voice. Lance does a great job of explaining what is happening mechanically when you produce sound with your voice, and how to manipulate your voice by manipulating muscles in your mouth/throat. He also gave me exercises to help me develop a feel for controlling these muscles, which have been helpful.

I’ve only had 3 lessons so far, and I’ve already had someone tell my that my voice sounds significantly better / less nasal, so I’m very happy with the results Lance has helped me produce so far!

"I have been learning how to play the tenor saxophone with Lonze for seven months. I had never picked up the sax before, so I was truly starting from zero. I have enjoyed working with Lonze because he emphasizes the importance of on fundementals like practicing long tones, scales, tounguing and rythm. I have also been learning from him how to read music. When I am faced with a note I cannot seem to hit, he is able to provide specific guidence and advice on how to work one's embochure and throat in order that, through practice, I can work towards improving. The same aplies to finger positioning, as he has provided me with specific advice on how to position my fingers for best fluidity between notes. He has been very encouraging during this process, which keeps me motivated to continue. I look forward to continued learning under his tutelage."

"I'm a 52 year-old with no music background and today was my first virtual alto sax lesson with Randall. I must admit that I was very intimidated at first and didn't think that I would be able to get the most out of this virtual learning experience. However, Randall made me very comfortable and quickly got me relaxed as if he were right there with me in my living room. We began by him showing me the do's and don'ts of putting my horn together (especially the mouthpiece), fingering, and creating the sound I wanted. I was impressed because he taught me about 5 to 6 notes in this initial session. To be honest I didn't even think that I would've been able to get a note out but I did. Although I didn't want my first saxophone lesson to be virtual, I can confidently say that I will continue my sessions with Randall and highly recommend his services."
