Hi there. I'm Andrew. I have been teaching for about 10 years now and it has become one of the things I truly love to do. When I am not writing, reading, gigging, touring, or recording, I love to teach people the things that have made my life so colorful.

With a little push in the right direction, you can become an active participant in the things you love. No more watching from the sidelines. Become the musician, writer, speaker, reader that you have always wanted to be. It's never too late! Trying something new or asking for help can be intimidating, but I am happy to show you that the rewards far exceed the costs. Trust me, I speak from experience. I've taught personalized lessons for nearly 10 years now without a single complaint. At this point in my musical career, the majority of my experience and attitude has come from being "in the field". I've played everything from small dive bars to music festivals with crowds of thousands and been on tour and lived the whole life more ...

About Andrew

Music is my life. As cheesy as that phrase goes, for me, it holds true. Everything I do and have been doing has been geared towards music. I've been in one working/gigging band or other without break for the past 10 years. I began intensely learning to play guitar at the age of 9 and have not stopp

I TEACH all of my students - beginning beginners through advanced - that what seems complicated is nothing more than a bunch of simple things put together. The next step in your learning guitar is simple. We just need to identify it and learn it. No matter what skills you already have - or if you are just getting started - we can identify what you already know and build on top of it. If you have holes in your skillset (everybody does!), we can identify them and fill them in.

DID YOU KNOW that a lot of fingerstyle guitar moves and improvisation are EASIER than some types of strumming? Beginning and intermediate guitar players learn a lot of "campfire" techniques - how to strum a certain way, how to form certain chords. And this is really good. But there is a whole bunch of other techniques few players know that are just as simple. Just as easy. And when you learn them you will stand out as the accomplished guitar player you can be.

THE RESULT is that you will learn a ...

Spook has been a wonderful guitar teacher, always offering great insight and helping me understand new concepts with my guitar. He is very accommodating to my interests and will structure my lesson around what I am trying to learn. I have seen clear improvements over a short period of time while working with him and suggest him to anyone regardless of level!

Spook is a knowledgeable, patient, perceptive, fun, and inventive teacher. He teaches music, guitar performance, and songwriting in small, digestible steps so you can really get your head (and fingers) around it. But, more important than all of this, he is an advocate and a friend.

Keith
I’ve been taking lessons from Kevin for about 2 months. Before that I’d been kind of aimlessly playing around with guitar. I was playing by myself for about 20 years and basically had no timing and rhythm. I’m not a funk master yet but Kevin has given me tools that have greatly improved my timing and for the first time actually believing that I’m going to do this. Thanks
Asam
I started taking lessons with Kevin about a month ago I took lessons when I was a kid, and remember some things, but my hands do not yet so what my head is telling them. Kevin has been great, adjusting to what I already know and adding a lot of music theory, which I never had learned before. Highly recommend Kevin.
Jo
I started learning Ukulele with Kevin and then picked up Guitar lately, Kevin has a systematic way of teaching, instead of covering each and every chords, he summarizes them by different shapes, and also their variations, so you can memorize the basics and find their "relative" chords easier. He also taught music theories, how each chord is formed, and if you want to play a specific song, he's also glad to help on finding the exact chord and transfer them into different notes that suits you. Definitely have your notebook ready since there's a lot to learn. The harder thing for myself is with the online class, it's not as efficient as a face-to-face one, I also tend to be less motivated to practise but you ought to just find your own motivation!

I've been working with Nate for almost a year now in the band Mile Twelve, and my experience with him has been incredible. Not only is he a amazingly well-learned, proficient, and creative musician, but he's one of the most understanding and helpful guys that I know. I've learned so much from playing with Nate, and I know his students are in good hands.
Joe
Working with Nate is great! By working step by step through a couple songs I brought with me, and I noticed an across-the-board improvement in my playing after the first lesson. Plus, we have a good time of it!
Reid
Nate has a very good ear, and is quickly able to identify problems, and thoroughly explain how to fix them. Whether a technique thing, or subtle nuances in timing, or tone, Nate always finds the clear path to expressing the goal, and how to get there.
I'd recommend Nate to anyone seeking to improve their playing. The rest is practice, practice, practice.

"Dave is amazing. My daughter (10) is a beginner guitar player (1 year experience) and having a blast with Dave. Dave is an inspiration. He makes it fun to learn, and custom creates books for her, using music she loves. He is so thoughtful about how to rewrite songs in order to teach the skills and music theory she needs at her level. She loves practicing and looks forward to every class. It's also super convenient that Dave comes to our house, and having an hour long lesson means they can cover a lot of ground. We all love listening to them jam from the other room! Cannot say enough about Dave. He is amazing!!!"

"David was our family's music teacher for the last 6 years. He taught my son piano, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, and music theory and composition. He also taught my daughter piano. He is an excellent teacher. He is very good at approaching music from the student's level and growing with them by bringing in new theory or music when the student is ready. He is in no way intimidating and is very good at instilling a love of music. He has a warm and gentle nature and can relate to very different personalities. The only reason he is not still teaching our family is that he moved. I highly recommend him."

"Phil is a fantastic guitar teacher. My teenage daughter has had a few teachers over the years, but he’s the first to help her learn to read actual music, teach her to restring her guitar, and provide a true musician’s perspective that keeps her interested and excited to learn. His focus on classical as a springboard for all other music genres is refreshing. We are thrilled to have found this gem of an instructor, his love for music and guitar is infectious and inspiring."
