How do you make awesome music in Ableton?

Start with the music that excites you. Listen, analyze and notice all the sounds you're hearing.

Then, you make a soundalike. In the process, we analyze everything you hear, and learn all the tricks of recording, sound design, producing and mixing.

Then, you try making your own music, using the sounds you know and new sounds you discover on the fly.

One project at a time, you figure out how music works, master the software, and become capable of making just about any sound you want to hear.

I've been making music with Ableton for a while- I made my first record as a songwriter almost entirely in Ableton 9. I learned everything by trial and error and a lot of YouTube watching, so I can help you avoid the initial stumbles I made and set you up for success with the most powerful software on the market for music creation.

I won't be lecturing you- we'll be working together, collaborating on music you can be proud of. Shoot me a message ...

About Ethan

My musical life started at the piano when I was four. I've spent the last five years helping students understand the sounds that speak to them and bring them into their own music-making. I spent my early years playing piano, then picked up the saxophone, which took me to Berklee College of Music,

Ethan is such a great guy, and he taught me more about singing than I thought I was capable of learning. You're missing out if you haven't studied with him

Ethan is truly an amazing saxophone teacher! I started learning the saxophone on my own but had been plateauing for months. Thanks to Ethan, I learned very useful tips - ranging from music theory to practical advises - and I can now feel myself progressing again. What’s impressed me the most with Ethan are his passion for the music, his dedication to transmitting his love for the saxophone and his desire to find the find the best teaching approach for each of his students.
Matthew
The way I view music and life in general has shifted in the best way possible. Stoked to have been apart of Ethan's lessons and recommend anyone interested in music to do the same. The things I never even begun to understand about music are now commonplace and serve to better my understanding of music as a whole.

Berklee College of Music student who majored in Electronic Music Production & Sound Design, as well as Music Business. I was also mentored by a platinum selling producer. Most recently I was working as the audio engineer and studio manager for the rapper Twista. I love helping others and giving back the knowledge I have in music. I grew up classically trained on the clarinet. I can help you take your career to the next level by understanding audio, mixing, production, mastering, and more.

About Jarod

I am a graduate of Berklee College of Music with a dual major in Electronic Music Production & Sound Design, as well as Music Business. Jarod is an exceptional music production teacher!

Jarod and I have been working together weekly for more than a year now. Prior to us working together I had zero production knowledge and very little musical knowledge. I didn’t even know what a MIDI was. Jarod structured his lessons initially around how to use Ableton, but to say he is an ableton teacher would be inaccurate. Jarod has in fact been an immersive teacher across all aspects of edm music production including production, song writing, mixing, mastering, audio engineering, music theory, vocal production and the music business. He possess deep domain expertise across all these topics, and teaches patiently, with humor and with an infallibly positive attitude.

Within a year I have produced a number of songs and will hopefully release one soon. I have learnt how to produce, structure and compose all elements of an edm song, much faster than if was self taught with YouTube videos.

It’s very unique to be able to learn from a signed artist who is actively releasing music. I highly recommend Jarod if you are interested in learning music production. He will be a great partner to you and friend!

Personal releases amassing 2.5M+ streams. Experience producing & mixing EDM, Pop, Hip-Hop, and Reggaeton. I’m an Artist, Producer, Songwriter, & Engineer. I graduated from the Recording Conservatory of Austin as an Audio Engineer and have worked with many different artists in very diverse genres. I’m a firm believer that to start your journey as a music producer, you don’t need to have a vast knowledge of music theory. As long as you know the right skills, and can work your way around a DAW, you can go very far pushing many limits. With the technology nowadays, creativity can get you very far. In 2022 we have access to so many amazing tools that give us the ability to create music that wasn’t possible in the past. Whether you’re a beginner, or have tons of experience… there’s always something you can learn. Especially with so many tools, plug-ins, tricks, and workarounds available. One thing that really helped me was learning to use these tools in ways that they were not meant to be ...

Carlos is one of the BEST Ableton teachers out there! I had heard of Ableton and always wanted to make music, but never knew how I could put two and two together. So I got a MIDI board and signed up for Carlos' classes and, honestly...BEST DECISION I EVER MADE!

By breaking down the functions of the program in a way that make it super easy to understand, Carlos' one-on-one lessons help you gain a better understanding of the capabilities of Ableton, NO MIDI REQUIRED! He not only shows you how to use the software to make your own music, but he helps analyze your projects with you and walks you through the way Ableton's features and components can help aide in the composition of your own work.

He also has an AWESOME home studio (which helps immensely with production and with being able to analyze the fidelity of the sounds created in class). He is very knowledgeable, very patient, and very eager to answer any questions one may have with the program and with music making in general.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND Carlos for anybody looking to learn a new skill or become a better musician/ artist/ or audio-engineer :)

"As the other reviewers wrote, Jarod is the real deal! You can see some of his work on Google Play Music under Jarod Glawe.

Currently, he does audio engineering and mixing for Rapper Twista, nothing to sneeze at, right? He's signed as a pop dance producer, working in EDM and house. So he focuses on more of the electronic top 40, i.e. he's worked with The Chain Smokers. Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato. In Chicago, hip hop is the main thing. Some of the biggest rappers come out from Chicago, but most of his music comes out of Amsterdam.

He gave me the basics of Ableton, which was GREAT. I learned about EQ, compression, reverb, delay and phasors. We took a song by Bonobo (Ketto) and tried to reverse engineer all the tracks. This was hard, but in so doing, I got exposure to Splice and a host of amazing plug-ins. Every lesson was eye opening for me. I felt like I was dipping my toes into a vast ocean, and like a kid in a candy shop. These were awesome. Highly recommended.

Mark is quite articulate about music which allows us to thoroughly examine the different sounds and elements in a song to better understand what we like and what could be improved upon.
