Gospel music is a blend of a variety of music: jazz, blues, pop, yet there are specific ways of singing and playing gospel music. Piano students will learn more about the chordal aspects of playing gospel music. Vocalists will learn and develop the ability to sing vocal techniques that focus on gospel music. We will look at the purposes and meanings to the songs lyrics, the aesthetics of gospel music. If students have specific artist they like, we will sing their songs and learn from their ways of singing.
