I am a professional musician and also have a degree in music education. I have had a few students over the years, but have decided to add new students at this time. I really enjoy working with students of all ages to help them become successful with saxophone, clarinet or flute.

About Mike

Music is my life. Saxophone is my first love. An early band director filled the classroom with every instrument, and when he opened the case on the saxophone, I knew I wanted that beautiful instrument in my life. All these years later, I love performing, and I truly love teaching saxophone students

I have been playing clarinet professionally for over ten years. My first performance was a production of "Guys and Dolls," and it opened up opportunities to play multiple woodwinds in all kinds of contexts. I am currently on-call to play with a number of symphony orchestras in town as well.
I am excited to share my passion for this beautiful instrument!

About Michael

I am a woodwind specialist with a degree in saxophone performance from the University of Arizona. I have been performing and competing since the fifth grade. Since arriving in Tucson in 2010, I have performed with dozens of groups, perhaps most notably the Tucson Symphony Orchestra. I play a variety

Michael is an excellent teacher and he was so patient with my daughter (5th grade). She was way ahead of the other students in her class and he found additional music for her to learn so she wasn't bored.

When my 11 year old son first began saxophone lessons with Michael Weiss, he was a true beginner but within 5 months, he was playing a song at a recital! Michael is patient and kind but firm in his direction and has instilled confidence in my son that he can play whatever songs he wants to play with focus and practice. Michael is flexible and adept at tailoring his lessons to the individual's needs. I highly recommend him.

I began playing music at age 11 while attending elementary school. I found playing music to be a magical and fulfilling experience. I quickly advanced through the levels, and graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Music in 1993.
Since I love making music so much, I wanted to share with others the joy of music, and began teaching in 1986. Music is a fun form of self-expression and can improve focus and self-confidence. I enjoy teaching students of all levels and ages.
I have played clarinet from the time I was a child in 6th grade. I played in concert band as well as marching band. One of my best memories of playing in high school was when our band played in the Orange Bowl Parade.

I teach all levels of clarinet. I use several different books including the rubank books, and a few just for clarinet. I also have many solo fun and classical books for students to use.
Whatever your reason for learning, I’m sure I can help you reach your music goals. Sign up for ...

Heather is a great teacher; she is able to gauge ability and keeps the lessons varied and interesting, always pushing you just at the edge, beyond what you thought you were capable of. Friendly, amiable, and laidback in style, she makes learning in a comfortable atmosphere fun. You can tell she has a real passion for music and teaching, and results after just a few lessons proves she knows what she is doing.

I am a beginning singer, my only prior experience was singing with the congregation in church, not the choir.
Quinn
She's really nice, and makes warm-ups before starting the lesson for your voice range. The variety of songs you can sing is pretty big, you want to sing in Italian? There's plenty! Want to sing in Latin? I'm pretty sure there's a few! There are songs from various musicals, too. All in all, she's a pretty great teacher.

My love of music and musical talent was discovered when I was just five years old. An uncle gave me a plastic recorder and, without lessons or help from anyone, I was playing melodies within days. Soon after I started taking private lessons on Saxophone and Clarinet. I played my first paying job

Hi! My name is Carrie and I have been in love with the clarinet since I first heard it at 8 years old. I have been teaching privately for almost 30 years and have held an online studio for over 10 years, teaching across many states and advancing students to their next levels of performance. I teach because it's incredibly exciting watching students reach their individual goals, whether it's learning their band/orchestra music well or preparing for the next college audition. I work on learning about you and your personality so that I may better customize the lessons with etudes and solos that "fit" you. There's never just one path to get to the end goal, and it's important to enjoy the journey as well! I'd love to be a part of your journey, so let's get started!

"Don't learn for the moment, learn for the lifetime".

Hi, I'm Carrie! I am a freelance clarinetist, clinician, teacher, and I am currently on faculty at Indiana University Southeast. I am truly honored to be a Backun Performing Artist and I get to share my music with their beautiful instruments. It's important to be a flexible musician, and my perf

Carrie’s teaching was transformational for my musical growth. I am primarily an oboist, and after playing around on clarinet for a while I decided I wanted to study it more seriously. Carrie’s was the first name in my mind. I knew of her playing skills already from being at UofL at the same time and there was no one else I wanted to learn from. I am so glad I sought her out, as she provided me with a rock-solid foundation for further clarinet study. Though I was only able to study with her for a few months, she lead me to grow musically far more than I thought possible.

Carrie’s teaching style is very direct yet warm and friendly. I was never afraid to make a mistake, and I knew that each mistake I made would be an opportunity for her to help me improve. She always made sure that any questions I had were thoroughly answered, and I always felt comfortable sharing things I was unsure of or that I knew I needed to be better at. She is a very charismatic person and effortlessly builds rapport with students. Because of this, I was always very comfortable with her critique of my playing. She was very practical in ensuring that all the fundamentals were well understood, and constantly connected back to them as I progressed.

I am pursuing my teaching certificate in music education now and so much of what I learned with Carrie I use with my clarinet students and all my students generally. She is simply a fantastic teacher, clarinetist, and person.

"Damien is a fantastic teacher! Our daughter will be a high school sophomore when school starts this month. She has been taking clarinet lessons from him for the last two years. Damien gives lessons at her school, but is also flexible enough to come to our home when school is out, or if we need to squeeze in a weekend lesson. He is a talented musician, and as a teacher, Damien is encouraging, thorough, and challenging, in a low-key manner. He wants his students to play with confidence. He is a person of integrity, and respectful to his students--she looks forward to her lessons. Damien has made excellent solo selections for her. With his teaching and guidance, our daughter did very well at the All Region competitions in her 8th and 9th grade years. Lastly, Damien is a good communicator, which is greatly appreciated."

"In search of helping our 10 year old son build some self-confidence we sought out clarinet lessons this summer. He started playing in school last year, and it was something our reluctant son liked "enough" to want to build up some competency. Joshua has been amazing! He finds just the right amount of challenge to encourage my son to practice, but not get discouraged. My son looks forward to his lesson each week and told me that he isn't even sure he wants to switch to saxophone next year because he is having so much fun playing the clarinet. Joshua is amazing with children, and has spent time getting to know our kiddo and find out what will work best for him. Patient, calm, and inspiring--very talented instructor."
